Our Cruse Scanner is a remarkable large format scanning device. It is engineered in Germany and is the only one of it’s kind in South Africa.
To reproduce Fine Art successfully the secret is in the SCANNING!
And the ultimate in fine art scanning is the amazing Cruse Scanner from Germany. This R2.5 million large format scanner is the worlds finest tool of it’s kind and is coveted by the industry for real reasons. It scans large format originals of all types with incredible resolution of up to 1.5 BILLION pixels!
This is the same machine used for image capture by NASA, the Vatican Secret Archives, and the world’s greatest Galleries, Museums and Universities. It comes with a multitude of special technologies that enable it to produce images that simply can’t be matched by traditional photo capture techniques.
The scanner uses a moving Synchron table under a stationary lens and lighting and can scan originals up to 1.5 meters in length in one pass (much larger originals can be scanned in sections and “stitched”)
Paintings can be scanned through glass without removing them from their frame and the moving flat-bed ensures no damage to delicate originals. Originals can be up to 15cm in depth and the scanner is capable of supporting some very heavy substrates. We have scanned 250kg granite blocks for the production of granite textured wallpapers with great success!
Our Cruse Scanner is a remarkable large format scanning device. It is engineered in Germany and is the only one of it’s kind in South Africa.
It sets the standard for scanning excellence which enables us to capture your fine art originals in all their detail and colour fidelity. And let’s face it, this is where it all starts! Your reproduction can only be as good as it’s original digitization. What you put in is what you get out.
For the technical minded the scanner scans at a whopping 1.5 BILLION pixels Other benefits are that originals can be scanned in their frames – through the glass!
The scanner flat-bed takes originals of 1.5m x 1.1m but by “tiling” the scans or doing them in sections we have scanned originals up to 5m and more in length. 3-d objects up to 15cm high can be scanned. Massive antique doors have found their way onto the scanner – 250kg blocks of granite and many other strange objects!
All depends on the size of the original and the resolution but they can be massive – up to 2GB in size – make sure you bring a suitable memory stick!
